PRIOR BAD ACTS by Tami Hoag
Tami Hoag, PRIOR BAD ACTS (Bantam Books, 2006).
Minneapolis Police Detectives Sam Kovac and Nikki Liska (ASHES TO ASHES; DUST TO DUST) return in this suspenseful thriller. Karl Dahl is on trial for the brutal slaying of Marlene Haas and her two foster children--a crime so savage that it left investigating detective Stan Dempsey devastated. Judge Carey Moore rules that Dahl's previous crimes are inadmissible as evidence. Stan Dempsey and the rest of Minneapolis are appalled. Judge Moore has gone too far in trying to protect the rights of an undeserving defendant. When someone (Stan Dempsey?) decides to teach her a lesson, detectives Kovac and Liska investigate the violent attack.
