Fiction/Romance

Reader’s Advisory Romance Genre Spotlight

AN OFFER  FROM A GENTLEMAN by Julia Quinn (Avon Books, 2001)

An Offer from a Gentleman begins like a Cinderella story but with a twist. Sophie is a “warden” of the Penwood family, but she truly is the “outside child” of Earl of Penwood. But when Earl of Penwood dies suddenly, Sophie’s life is turned from “warden” to “slave” working for her stepmother and two stepsisters. When the Bridgeton Family holds a grand masquerade ball, Sophie gets a chance of a lifetime to live like “Cinderella“  for one night and dance with the “prince,” Benedict Bridgeton. But when the clock strikes midnight, reality kicks in and her life changes dramatically -- her home and way of life are stripped away from her forcing her to start a new life unknown and alone.

Three years later, fate steps in. Sophie finds herself on a new adventure full of twists and turns with the last person she thought she would ever see again: Benedict, her prince.
