Library staff share fiction and non-fiction recommendations for Black History Month.
The book follows the life of a young woman named Easter who must keep moving. When things do not sit well with her she picks up and moves. The book is set in the early - mid 1900s. Easter leavesWaycross , GA
and ultimately lands in Harlem ,
New York during the Harlem
Renaissance. During her "adventures" she maintains a diary of
her writings and ultimately becomes a published writer in journals.
Historical figures such as Langston Hughes are sprinkled throughout the book.
It is a must read. I want to tell you the ending but you have to read it
for yourself.
