[News and Notes] December 17, 2012

As the end of the year approaches  "The Best of 2012" lists are released. Here is an early sample of what bloggers, critics, and readers have selected from this year's books.

Book bloggers and reviewers are buzzing about Slate's Overlooked Books of 2012. Girl Walks Into a Bar by Rachel Dratch was one of the overlooked works chosen by Slate Book Review writers.

Flavorwire featured 25 Notable Books Unfairly Overlooked by 'The New York Times' on December 4th, and samples from these books were collected for another "Literary Mixtape" at Galleycat.

The New York Times released 100 Notable Books of 2012 and 10 Best Books of 2012 in late November. NYTimes critics selected Bring Up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel as Best Fiction.

Gone, Girl by Gillian Flynn (MR book review) received the most votes from Book Riot Readers' Top 25 Books of 2012

More to come later.
