[News and Notes] November 1, 2012

Our prayers and thoughts go out to those affected by Hurricane Sandy as the recovery process begins.

National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) begins today. Visit the official website to accept the 30-day challenge. Galleycat has organized two years of NaNoWriMo tips for aspiring novelists and will continue to offer advice everyday this month.

November is also National Native American Heritage Month. A special collection of  Native American authors and books is available at ipl.org. View other resources at the ipl2 blog.

New to the library collection: BLASPHEMY by Sherman Alexie
"A bold and irreverent observer of life among Native Americans in the Pacific Northwest, the daring, versatile, funny, and outrageous Alexie showcases all his talents in his newest collection, Blasphemy, where he unites fifteen beloved classics with fifteen new stories in one sweeping anthology for devoted fans and first-time readers."  Library catalog
