[Book Review] THIS IS WHERE I LEAVE YOU by Jonathan Tropper

Fiction/Mainstream

Andrea reviews THIS IS WHERE I LEAVE YOU by Jonathan Tropper (Dutton, 2009)
Okay, I am not going to lie. It’s hot outside, Very hot! I have no desire to read anything deep and thought-provoking so I picked up Jonathan Tropper’s bestseller. I am so glad I did. This book about the Foxman family sitting Shiva  made me laugh out loud and cry true tears. (My husband thought I was either crazy or else hormonal, I know.)

Sitting Shiva for their father, Morton Foxman, has brought all four adult children together in the same house for the first time in years. Noticeably absent is second son and narrator, Judd, and his wife, Jen. It has recently been revealed that Jen and Judd are separated due to her affair with Judd’s boss, Wade. Even though the affair itself is terrible, I have to admit Judd’s reaction to finding Jen and Wade in bed together was laugh out-loud hysterical. This is just one of the many episodes of the Foxman clan where readers will have tears rolling down their cheeks from laughing so hard.

I am not going to give away any spoilers, but now that I have hopefully piqued your interest, you’ll read for yourself why the Foxman family puts the FUN in dysfunctional. This family makes even my family look normal, and that is NOT an easy feat!

Enjoy, and stay out of the heat, readers!
