Critics Praise Wambaugh's Latest
Joseph Wambaugh, HOLLYWOOD STATION: A Novel (Little, Brown and Co., 2006)
Writer Joseph Wambaugh is a former officer with the LAPD. He last wrote about the department in 1983. Since then, there have been many changes, not all of them in the wake of the Rodney King incident. Fellow novelist James Ellroy convinced Wambaugh "that someone had to write a novel about the current LAPD, and that [Wambaugh] . . . was the one who could do it justice, who could understand how so many things have changed but how some things never do."
