'Tis The Season...For Best-Of-The-Year Lists

Each year the "Holidays" begin earlier and earlier. "Best-of-the-Year" lists seem a part of the general trend toward a two-month long holiday season.

Publishers Weekly's Best Books of The Year.

There is a comment section on their site, but wouldn't you prefer to comment here at Memphis Reads?

Memphis Reads Reviews of Books from the PW List (quotations are from PW):

My Life in France
Julia Child and Alex Prud'homme (Knopf)

"This is a valuable record of gorgeous meals in bygone Parisian restaurants and the secret arts of a culinary genius."

Clemente: The Passion and Grace of Baseball's Last Hero
David Maraniss (Simon & Schuster)

"Maraniss presents a brilliant picture of a ballplayer more complicated than the encomiums would suggest."

Mayflower: A Story of Courage, Community, and War
Nathaniel Philbrick (Viking)

"Another masterpiece from Philbrick, a myth-breaking narrative of American origins and the first, tragic colonial-Native clash."
